Summertown URC is on the Banbury road approximately two miles north of Oxford city centre.
Bird’s Eye View
For a Birds Eye View of Summertown URC: go to Birds eye view and you will find amazing views of Summertown URC from the air. You have to click on the ‘birds eye view’ icon and you should also get rid of the column entitled ‘Collections Editor’ by clicking on the X. You can view the church from the 4 points of the compass by rotating the view. The red pushpin gives an approximate indication of the position of the church. You can move the photograph about using the cursor and get the church in the centre of the field of view. If you click on the + sign on the insert you will increase the magnification. Happy browsing!
From the City Centre
From the city centre: drive north up the Banbury Road (A416). The church is on the right immediately beyond the Summertown shops, almost opposite South Parade on the left and just before Lonsdale road on the right. There is a pelican crossing across the Banbury road in front of the church.
From outside Oxford
From outside of Oxford: make your way round the ring road to the large roundabout at the top of the Banbury Road (where the A40 crosses the Banbury Road). Head south down the Banbury Road for about a mile. The church is on the left immediately opposite South Parade on the right and a pelican crossing across the road.
Parking: On street parking is limited, even on Sundays, but there is a public car park off the Banbury Road and on the same side as the church immediately south of the Summertown shopping area, about 5 minutes walk from the church.
Travelling by bus
Travelling by bus: From the city centre all buses numbered 2, 2A or 2B go up the Banbury road. They may be caught from Magdalen street and you should ask for the South Parade stop. If driving in from out of town you may care to park at the Pear Tree Park and Ride car park and take the bus, no. 300, to the Woodstock road end of South Parade.

Roadworks: The area is subject to major roadworks until Autumn 2016. Allow plenty of time for your journey.
The Wolvercote roundabout where the A40 comes in from Witney, meeting the A34 feeder roads, and the Cutteslowe roundabout on the Oxford Ring Road where it meets the Banbury Road are both subject to severe delays as the junctions are remodelled.
In addition, First Turn is closed to vehicular traffic at the Woodstock Road junction while the railway bridge in First Turn is replaced. These works are scheduled to finish in Spring 2016. A pedestrian footbridge is in place over the railway.
Bus services: the Oxford Bus Company service 6 runs from Oxford City Centre (outside the Odeon Magdalen Street) to Lower Wolvercote. Alight at Woodstock Road/First Turn stop and walk along First Turn.
By car from Oxford City Centre: drive north up the Woodstock Road (A4144) for nearly three miles passing through Summertown, St Edward’s School and St Gregory and St Augustine Roman Catholic Church, both on your right. At the Wolvercote roundabout, take first exit down Godstow Road. After about 50m, at mini roundabout, turn left up Mere Road. Turn right at the T junction into First Turn. The church is on your right.
By car from out of Oxford: Follow the Oxford Ring road (A40) to the Wolvercote roundabout, where the A40 meets the A44, the A4144 out of Oxford, and close to the A34 Peartree roundabout with access to the M40 Junction 9. Take Godstow Road and follow directions as above.
